RUAH is an Interfaith Spirituality Program of Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (CMM) that seeks to engage transformative and creative forms and practices of spirituality in facing the urgent realities of our world; facilitate dialogue among the various faith communities around matters of spiritual concern; and offer a hospitable gathering place for persons and communities seeking a deeper spiritual life. RUAH offers workshops, classes, retreats, ongoing groups, and other educational forums to the greater Boston community.
Major issues addressed include interfaith dialogue, spirituality and aging, dying and grief, healing, spirituality and the environment, and mystics and mysticism in all religious traditions. RUAH aims to increase understanding among religious traditions, to provide spiritual sustenance to all, and to create peace one person at a time.
In the summer of 2010, RUAH became part of CMM. Founded in 1966, CMM is the greater Boston area's oldest interfaith network, with members in 100 congregations, community agencies, and campus partners across the region. CMM's mission is to promote interfaith understanding and cooperation through the work of creating a more just and peaceful society. CMM accomplishes its mission through three major areas: interfaith education, dialogue and spirituality programs; youth leadership and peacemaker training programs; and legislative advocacy and social action on issues of shared concern.
RUAH's merger with CMM was a natural coming together of two venerable interfaith organizations that recognize faith, spiritual practice, and social action as deeply interconnected and necessary for the healing our world.
